Baccarat is one of the casino classics that many people know of, yet few people have actually played for themselves. This is a shame as the game is one the more rewarding casino experiences. Chemin de Fer – this is the oldest variation of baccarat available; it derives from the french for 'railroad' and got attributed with this title due to the unique way in which the cards are dealt. In essence, every time a player loses a hand, he must pass the deck to the next player – making this the main difference between this variation and others.

Punto Banco – this version is sometimes referred to as 'American Baccarat' due to the fact that this is where it finds the height of its popularity. Players still have the option to bet on banker of player hands, but a croupier will deal the cards to players.

Baccarat Banque – in this version of the game, a player is dealt two hands, with the banker only receiving one. Players may bet on either of their hands, but not the banker's hand.

Mini-Baccarat – this is, for the most part, a scaled-down version of baccarat played at mini blackjack-style tables; it is very popular in America.
